FIND YOUR DIRECTION HOME

At True North Psychiatry in New Mexico, we offer integrative psychiatric care and ketamine-assisted therapy designed to help you return to a place of balance, clarity, and emotional well-being. Unlike many ketamine clinics run by providers without mental health training, our care is led by Dr. Catherine Mahan Boyd MD, board-certified psychiatrist with deep expertise in both traditional and psychedelic-assisted therapies.

“Ketamine affects glutamate signaling, which causes the brain to produce neural ‘fertilizers’ called BDNF—brain-derived neurotrophic factor. These fertilizers help neurons grow more connections.”

Personalized Treatment

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

At True North Psychiatry, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is offered in a doctor-led, highly personalized setting. Every ketamine journey is thoughtfully prepared, clinically safe, and fully integrated into your therapeutic plan—never one-size-fits-all.

Ketamine works in two key ways: it can provide rapid relief from depression, anxiety, and suicidality by altering brain chemistry, and it opens a unique window of neuroplasticity—lasting 1 to 3 days—during which the brain is more receptive to change. When paired with psychotherapy, this period becomes a powerful opportunity to explore and heal the root causes of suffering, shift entrenched thought patterns, and process past trauma with greater ease and self-compassion.
